LITERATURE
The Rats of Hamelin; A Piper's Tale

Author:
Adam McCune & Keith McCune

Have you ever wondered about what happened before or after the events in a fairy tale? What originally lead these people down a certain path to find their destiny in a world filled with adventure? The Rats of Hamelin, is the story of the Pied Piper. It tells about his humble beginnings, how he became a piper and why. After years as an apprentice in the Pipers Guild he is sent out on his first big adventure alone, to rid the town of Hamelin of it’s rat infestation. However, Johannes, the Pied Piper, finds that not all the rats in Hamelin are rodents. Crooked politicians and greedy landowners are also at work. Unless the rats are driven from Hamelin, Hamelin itself will never be free. The poor will always be oppressed and the rich will see to it that they stay that way, unless Johannes does something about it. With the help of some Hamliners that still have a conscious they take on the crooked and corrupt and try to set all of Hamelin free.

As one who is fond of novels that tell stories around a story, this book is very intriguing. Filled with magic, mystery, a slight touch of romance, and a whole lot of who done it. It is highly recommended that one sit down and fall into the "Pipe World." Where the tune that this book follows flows like notes, envelops the imagination and carries you away.

MUSIC
Kelly Clarkson

Album Name:
My December

As one can deduce from the album cover artwork, the songs on Clarkson’s new album have a lonely, cold, almost angry feeling to them. Songs of a jilted lover, filled with lyrics one would think of to express exactly how they feel after a bad breakup, or even a good one. Words and thoughts you would want to say but may not know how to express. Everything from, I hate you, to don’t leave me here to myself. Thoughts and feelings of loss, yet rising above it all in the end and moving on. This album is good for those days when you want to say go away world. More low key than previous albums, not as many dance mixes but definitely an evolution and change from the Clarkson albums that came before.

I must admit, when I first heard all the hoopla about this book/movie, I did not really have any interest in seeing it. Over time, I became mildly interested because it was causing such a stir. So, I broke down and asked a friend for her audio book copy. Only problem was, she forgot to give me cd one out of the five to follow. Not wanting to miss out on precious clues at the beginning of the book, I looked into other options. So I spoke with one of my dearest friends and told him that I was interested in the story. He happened to own a copy of it on DVD. So, one night we sat up and watched it. I must say that I found it to be a very interesting flick. Parts of it were a little gory for me but for the most part, it was a very good story. It kept your attention and made you wonder if everyone was really who you thought them to be. There were interesting twists and turns, strange symbols that all made you wonder. I was on the edge of my seat until the very end. All in all, I thought that this was a very interesting story and though it is partly fiction, I can see how it may be possible for some of the material in the book/ movie could possibly be the answer for which we all look for. Was Jesus whom we really thought he was or is their more depth to his character? One may never know but this is definitely a movie worth watching.
